Re: Anchor Poll

Exactly right. Most boats do not anchor much. When thry do, it is for lunch and it doesn't really matter what you throm off the end of the boat. Look closely at the anchors in marinas. Almost none of them show any wear.

Now you know why.

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: Anchor Poll

I see anchors that are twice as small as my anchor on boats twice as big as my boat all over the place. Intended use I guess is what makes the difference, they probably make jokes about my anchor being way to big.

Ask Mr B if there is such a thing as having too big an anchor.

I had a fun time with chain wrap on the northhill once, delightful... not!. But a pretty nice anchor if your anchored in non-tidal areas.. I see Northhill's on all the fishing fleet at Bodaga bay....

I should hope that our forum members are more representative of the cruising community than the boats you're seeing in marinas.

Re: Anchor Poll

For cruising we carry 2 x 45 pound CQR anchors
For racing we carry 2 x 35 pound CQR anchors (ISAF recommended size for our boat)

Re: Anchor Poll

I notice that the poll results don't match what you would have expected based on all the anchor discussions we have had here at CF, I mean not even close!

based on threads yu would expect anchors like the CQRs to be be in history books only
