The "Thames measurement", created in 1876 seems to have been abandoned in 1906 in favor of the "Jauge universelle" (Universal rule).
The "Universal Rule" has itself been replaced by the "Jauge internationale" (Metre rule).

Is this a good idea to put this in the logbook? I'm not sure. (But this is only my own opinion).

Or, there must be an entire line dedicated to these three concepts.

But be careful not to unnecessarily complicated OpenCPN.

I agree!
I'm English and find the Thames tonnage very confusing as do most Britons. There is a formula I can apply to find the value for my boat, but then what? It just gets confused with displacement ... ...
Best keep it simple

Hello hoolie and Gilletarom,

thank's for your replies.

i append this thames tonnage by a wish of a user.
if this confuses, i can kick it out - no problem-, or should i rename this field
to anything else ? it's changing of a string (text), only.

are there any other desired/useful fields which i haven't inserted ?

Another idea is to give the user e.g thee (or more) labels as textfield -so that it's not static- with a data-textfield.
the user can fill in something or leave it blank. For the user it's more flexible, for the translators less work.

to Gilletarom:
thank's for your translation. i install a new folder in Sourceforge for the
language-pack-update of 0.908.
i upload version 0.909 in a few days. if you send me your email-adress,
i send you a preview with pot/po-files.

best regards

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello,

Version 0.909 is ready for download, sorry for the delay.

The plugin has now a exe-installer/deinstaller; all needed files are copied into the right place.

CarCode has ported the plugin to the Mac. Users can now compile the sources on Lion and maybe on Snow Leopard.
You can mail him, if You have any questions.

Name:	Mac.PNG
Views:	316
Size:	134.3 KB
ID:	34896

Linux-Users find the sources in the same place.

I hope, that i've fixed all bugs.

Hello Konni

Have you received my last email I also sent to Pavel?

Today, while searching the repository, I found another version of the language file. So I updated the language file in French.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hi Konni,

909 is working great.

Only comment is I can't seem to hide columns anymore that I do not use.

The calculations across longitudes is working correctly now.

Thanks for the great job!

Logbook Konni V0.909 French translation

Hi everybody,

First, Konni, your version of logbook is a good idea and it's a very good job

I'm comming to propose my help for french translation of your plugin .

That's what i see in version 0.909 and i can't traduct in ".po" !

Tab overview
  • Distance p.Day > Distance/jour
  • Best Dist. p. Day > Meilleur dist./jour
  • Speed Avg. > Vitesse moyenne
  • Speed Max > Vitesse max.
  • Wind from > Dir. du Vent
  • Wind Avg. W > Vent moyen
  • Current Avg > Moyenne actuelle
  • Current max. > Max. actuelle
  • Wave Avg. > Vague moyenne
  • Wave max. > Vague max.
  • Swell Avg. > Houle moyenne
  • Swell max. > Houle max.
  • Sails used mostly : Voiles utilisées en majorité

Crew list :
In my ".mo" i translate this words like this
  • Start 1.Watch > 1er Quart
  • End 1.Watch > Fin du 1er Quart
  • Start 2.Watch > 2ième Quart
  • End 2.Watch > Fin du 2ième Quart
  • Start 3.Watch > 3ième Quart
  • End 3.Watch > Fin du 3ième Quart

I hope that help you and contribute for the French version.

Best regards
Pascal

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hi Konni,

Pavel just got slapped on the fingers (nicely). He may be right. I read several of your mail on the word "boat".

But I think I could not believe that there was such a technical constraint in OpenCPN. In short, I think now I understand.

But then, I have to change the two language files: The plug-in WMM and the plug-in Logbook-Konni.

Indeed, in the language file to WMM, there is "Boat," but there are also "Cursor". In french, if I change "Bateau :" in "Bateau ", I must also change "Curseur :" in the "Curseur ". For obvious reasons of aesthetics.

I hope that Pavel will not blame me.

But I see a new translation has been proposed. We will have harmonized our proposals

I contact Edelvoilier by private message and we'll talk about here.

Hi Mark,

happy new year to You and Liesbet.

I cannot reproduce the bug about show/hide Columns.
On Win7/XP/Linux the Columns hide and appear properly in the grid.

If You mean the display (after You hit view-buttom), that's a different story.
The Layout's are hardcoded templates. The idea behind that was, that every
user can produce his own Layout.

if i have something misunderstood please mail the details to reproduce the
bug.

best regards
konni

P.S.
I send You a preview of 0.910. It has now a option "if waypoit arrived"
that i cannot check - only waypoint on/of, but not a real GPS

Logbook Konni for OpenCPN :French file

Hi Konni,

The go back between EdelVoilier and myself to improve the French language file are complete.

I put here our latest version of the language file in French.

It is a malfunction with the 909 version that is not explained by the arguments you have given me and Pavel confirmed. We will see with the 910 version what happens.

Best regards

Gilletarom

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Konni, congratulations on a good plug in for OpenCPN. Thanks.

Perhaps a small improvement would be the addition of a "Storage Location" field in the Boat/Equipment table or a "Spares" section under Maintenance which would be similar to Equipment but without the serial number but with Location and Quantity fields.

I have only a small boat (IP 26 MKII) but am forever forgetting where I stowed something. It could be just a text field of maybe 20-25 characters or so.

Thanks again.
