Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Rick...
Would you mind posting some screenshots of what is wrong with CLimatology? I can't see anything.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Well that might be good news. Its 7:40 am so its time to get up anyway. Will do it shortly. Big snow in montanna last night. Kids gone skiing. I'm traveling tomorrow. Thanks.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Pavel, I think it is not as bad as I thought, but there are some scaling problems due to the expanded area of zoom now. I will be able to recreate the necessary images for Climatology wiki, and as long as the user stays within certain zoom levels (out) it works fine, but I can say that the overlays have changed for the worse now, the graphics are not as crisp and nice.

The fuzzy edges seem to be more related to the overlay, which then obscures the background land outlines more. I think this has to do with recent changes in overzoom fuzzinesss that Climatology is unaware of.

The other problem is related to zooming out. When you zoom out on any overlay, the overlay goes out of scale. Then if you pan left or right it shifts. And if you zoom out again with a pan left or right the overlay morphs to horizontal strips.

I don't know if Sean can fix these things or not, but perhaps you could advise.

Thomas, I'll go start working on the wiki, plugins now, starting with Climatology.
[Since I lost several days getting updated Virtualbox with extensions + Linux Ubuntu + Opencpn running at proper screen resolution. I think it had to do with an update to Virtualbox, did not include the required update to Extensions, which is now fixed. - Any clues how start the Opencpn program after it is installed under Ubuntu, for some reason I could not find it last night?]

Thanks.

About this item : "Show Toolbar in Fullscreen Mode", #: src/options.cpp:2653

This is a leftover, will not be visible in real life.

Re;
Rotation, 2 Questions:

1. Not easy to put rotation angle indicator in icon. Feature request, maybe?

2. The menubar when rotated: Seems not right to leave "North Up" selected, since it is not actually north up anymore when rotated. User can get back to north up (0 rotation) by clicking the the compass icon twice (it turns red, then blue) or striking the "\" key.

So, we should document what we have now, and resist changing only to change again.

Thanks

Jean...

re double function on French keyboard of "\" and "-".

Do you have a better suggestion for how to handle this on AZERTY keyboard? Ideas accepted.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Gilletarom, et al..

On the Transparent Toolbar option:

I took the second option and moved the transparent toolbar checkbox to Options->Display->Advanced, right under OpenGL options. Also, changes to OpenGL tick mark immediately enable/disable the transparent toolbar tickbox. Good idea, RD.

I also took the opportunity to move the "play Ships Bells" option from Display->Advanced to the User Interface page. Really has nothing to do with Display, does it?

In github now, for those patient and overworked souls pulling screenshots for the Wiki. We'll stop changing the dialogs now, I think.

Thanks for the input

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Ok, the Climatology wiki has been updated. Reduced size of click images to 500x pixels and reloaded and put into two separate tables. Clarified when opengl is needed. Made Data instructions "older" and corrected for the CL-DATA???.tar.xz - Am I correct that the Linux packages contain the data?

No, it does not contain the data. Looking at the download counts it definitely should though (on all the platforms)...

Dave, Jean

I would suggest to suppress zooming with "_" key (coded 56 ) witch is not very useful as we have "-" (coded 54 )

Obviously, it will not be left "up North" selected. I propose to bring up the 3 items and the item "Rotated mode" is selected.

Anyway, there is currently a problem. If the rotation mode is enabled, the options, the item "up North" remains active.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Dave, Gilletarom & Rick

Rotation. Testing again.
Linux: I get consistently "Rotated Mode" in the menu bar if I start rotation in N up mode. If I start the rotation in "Course up mode" , nothing happens in the menu bar, I only see N up & C up.

Win XP: I sometimes see the "Rotated Mode" in the menu bar, but have so far failed to come up with a sequence were this is predictable....
