Of course not.
I had a look at wikipedia where in the given example looks like this:
Code:
$ patch -p1 < name_des_Patch.diff
(I have uploaded the 2 files into the same directory of my webspace).

Anyway ...

Anyway, here are both files patched.
| include_options.h.doc = include/options.h
| src_options.cpp.doc = src/options.cpp
these files worked fine for me ...!

Works like a charm ..., great improvement.

BTW, I'm currently playing on GRIB interface: add previous & next buttons to ease navigation in data, as well as changing the Tree to a ComboBox. The problem is it can navigate only on one file at a time so "GRIB File Directory" should be changed to "GRIB File" Is it of any use to navigate more than one file at once?

I need some advice here ;-) Thanks a lot.
From my experiences and point of view I would say "Yes", because
  • one can compare changes in forecast/ prediction from older/ newer file or different sources
  • depending on the source of the GRIB file they contain different informations (e.g. one without wave height, another one including wave height)
I also find it helpful to view all available GRIB files (assumed you put them all in the same directory) at a look.

Other proposals for changes/ enhancements dealing with the GRIB interface:
  1. A 'Zoom to' function like in the Route Manager would be nice to have.
  2. A configurable interval for automatically switching between the different date/ time entries (additionally with an option to repeat from start when reaching the end of the file) - in other words an animation of the GRIB data.
  3. Including the possibility to download GRIB files from different sources (configurable/ definable in the ToolBox settings) so that no external program is needed anymore.
  4. Support for GRIB 2 format will be most desirable .
Thanks again for the patch,
Gunther

Downside of these Netherland charts they do not attach themselves enough go in her. It is a patchwork with holes. Would be the cause of the problem?

The charts set of The Netherlands in the S57 standard is only a trial set at this moment.
I would suggest not to use them for testing.
Kind regards

Then, it is necessary to inform the potential users putting an indication about this, on the page of the web site opencpn.org.

Best regards,

Gilletarom.

Peter,
I can't agree with you, but I agree that they are pretty buggy There is no way to prevent people from using them no matter how big and red the warning on the website will be... And as such they shouldn't crash OpenCPN, because it will harm it's image and piss off the potential users. At the other hand simply ignoring the ones with bugs could be considered a legitimate solution here.

This is not true. These charts are for testing and RWS (the Dutch waterway management organisation) will update the charts in the (near) future.
The intention of RWS to update only charts for certain Watarway's

The next update on short term (july) will be:
• Lek in Zuid-Holland (Schoonhoven - Rotterdam)
parts of the IJssel
parts of the Nederrijn

Thanks Pavel for the great work, works on mine, I also think some of the BCNSPPs are better?

In other words, the only failure is that the library call to read the version number returns 0,0?

Odd...

After testing I'm come to the conclusion, that once again, a stale cmake cache file was the cause for the dialog.
I only ever saw it again on my eeepc, when updating to the latest beta, without cleaning out the cache. It is not possible to repeat with an updated CMake cache.

Yes, a few as a side effect of new beacon symbols - I'm slowly adding the new symbols and rules when I really don't have anything better to do and come to a chart where something is missing. Still a looooooong way to perfection though

GRIB Navigate

Hi,

New one today, this time about GRIB dialog: I wanted to add previous & next buttons to navigate into GRIBs. IMHO the current TreeCtrl is not KISS so I tried to replace it with a ComboBox (it's a very personal point of view, I don't want to start a new concept debate. I swear!)

One downside is that the ComboBox simpler use is not fine with filenames mixed with GRIBs intervals so I changed from directory selection (multiple files were displayed in the tree) to one file at once. Not sure it'll fit to OpenCPN features, so don't expect to see it in CVS. Dave will decide. (I know there's a ComboCtrl that can drop down a tree view but I did not try that. Dave?)

Enjoy

GRIB

For me the first to do would be improve the performance . The GRIB function is very difficult to use on my small notebook and window XP. When zooming big scale , it become unusable (impossible to move the chart ). But may be it's a dream to expect a good performance with such a machine .

I'm sorry that I cannot reproduce this error consistently:

1- When the error occurs opencpn crashes.
2- The error log ends with messages as below concerning chart_error_factor.
3- It can be any chart, however all my charts in use are BSB. I recently re-generated them with the latest tif2bsb/GPS Marco-utility, but that did not cure the problem.
4- Opencpn is in quilting-mode.
5- When the crash has occurred opencpn does not seem to be able to start again, - it crashes immediately when started, - a blank screen with no charts is displayed and then it crashes.
6- To make opencpn start again the 'F9'-key must be hit immediately after clicking the icon for Opencpn, when the opencpn-screen starts being displayed. Then opencpn runs again, also with quilting, until some other chart makes it crash with the same Chart_error_factor logmessages.

- still I don't know what conditions must be fulfilled when.

OEM...

Thanks for the input.

I need to see one of the charts that causes the indicated logfile entries, and also the config file that produces a no-start condition.

Thanks
Dave

Dutch charts

Thanks for all the characterization of this bug.

Comments:

1. Some of this chart folio has internal errors which opencpn has not seen before, producing crashes.
2. I have coded around the crashes, which results in the charts becoming much less usable, but at least no crash. Many chart features are missing.
3. This is an opencpn bug, since the charts can be read by SeeMyEnc, for example.
4. This bug is low priority.
5. Expect CVS update for partial solution to this and other minor bugs soon.

Thanks again
Dave

GPS Route uploads

All...

Anyone doing uploads to GPS receivers over NMEA line? Successes? Failures?

One user with Garmin 126 chart plotter is not succeeding, and this is tough to debug without having one of every GPS ever made on my lab bench....

Thanks
Dave
