Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Plugins-Beta -CLIMATOLOGY_PI DATA UPDATE 5
Compiled current as of May 24,2013, 4:50pm.

Opencpn Beta Login - Plugins - rguser, rgpass. Pick the "Climate-Data-5" directory.
1. Download CL-DATA-5.zip (6.9mb) OR all the individual files.
2. Copy them uncompressed to opencpn/plugins/cliimatology/data/ directory.
3. There should be 42 files, including the zipped file.

Sean (boat_alexandra) has updated the data and may have reduced the number of cyclone files. This data should work will the next climatology_pi.dll which I will also upload, now
Certain aspects are not completely working in windows:
1.Tabs,
2. Isobar -Careful not to click on config > isobar > spacing > (up or down arrow) more than once or isobar building with freeze -wait for it to finish.
3. Cyclones.

However Sean would like you to try it out and test it over the next week. Hopefully there will be another version tomorrow or the next day with the other features working.

Find the Climatology_pi.dll under Plugins-Beta-Opencpn-3.2
climatology_win32_pi19_v01_pi.dll uses CL-DATA-3 -old one
climatology_win32_pi19_v02_pi.dll uses CL-DATA-5 -new one

Compiled current as of June 10,2013.

2. Download CL-DATA-5.zip (6.9mb) OR all the individual files.

3. There should be 42 files, including the zipped file.
4. Also you may need Opencpn 3.3.424 if you have an old version. See the directory labels with the plugins associated. Old plugins generally will run with newer Ocpn versions.

5. Also updated today, Sean's other plugins

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Is the name of the directory/folder "cliimatology" spelled correct?

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

I copied
climatology_win32_pi19_v02_pi.dll
climatology_pi-newest.dll
into the plugin directory. As soon as I start O v3.3.424 and click the weather icon, it errors saying "Climatology plugin version not correct, no climatology data". I do however see the plugin in the plugin overview in the settings menu. If I disable and enable the plugin, the icon show up in the dashboard.

Any ideas?

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

George, that's how it is spelled here. Looks right to me. Look it up.
Yes, you will get this error. Sean will be working on Weather_Routing at some point and that will go away. It should not stop you from using the plugin. Just contnue, click on the plugin again or re Enable it, then click on it and continue.

When you get that message, Weather_routing will NOT do routing using Climatology monthly grid data at all, so you will have to download and use grib file in grib_pi.dll until this is fixed.

George, I think it would help if you did some reading in the threads, so you understand a little what is going on. It is really good you are using the plugins, that is wonderful, read and absorb. Then ask. These are beta plugins still, but almost there.

Sean has been very diligent working with Windows. We all owe him a great deal. He is planning to leave on a trip soon, for a long time, so your testing will be very helpful.

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Regarding reading and absorbing, because it are the latest versions of the plugins I kind of thought these "issues" where fixed. Been following the topic ever since and I'm really impressed on the work done by you and the fellow members! Thumb up.

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

George,
I don't think I understand, "Rgleason, in my post(49) it's spelled it's a double i. In your answer with one i" - my eyes are not always the best with small text.

Thank for you fpr the kind words. Please keep in mind that I am just trying to help Sean, and Sean is the author of these plugins.

It has been a lot of work to get all the parts going properly, mostly because compiling in the Windows environment wwith MSVC does screwy things to code that just works fine in Linux.

Sean would like someone who programs in Windows who could help with this stuff. I would like to learn more about it, but I am pretty busy as it is. For Sean its like working at the end of a long pole, he hears stuff from me, then tries to fix it. I think we would welcome some Windows programming advice on TABS and Cyclones to move this along. It is almost there, but it will require some more work.

Hope you'll be one of the guys who can give this a workout when all the parts are working! Then use it with Weather_Routing!! Its a very powerful tool I think.

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Rgleason,

In my post I refer to the update of the plugin:
Quote:
1. Climatology_pi-newest.dll is most recent.
2. Download CL-DATA-5.zip (6.9mb) OR all the individual files.
2. Copy them uncompressed to opencpn/plugins/cliimatology/data/ directory.
3. There should be 42 files, including the zipped file.
If you look at line "2. Copy them....." the name of the folder is written with two i's. (I don't know how to colorize words, so I can make it more clear)

Unfortunately I don't have any Windows (or Unix) programming skills/experience, otherwise I think it would be great to help building O. I agree that it is a great tool.

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Mike, I don't have Win8, but you should just be able to run the 32bit Opencpn exe installer and the program with, prompts install in C:/Program Files(x86) <---for 32 bit compatibility. The opencpn ini and log files with be stored under ProgramData/Opencpn along with the nav objects. I don't believe Win8 will change this, but maybe. Others probably have more experience than me with this.
