37-42' Cruiser

Hello all,
I am new to the site, but thought I would give this a try. I currently live in the St. Augustine, FL area and am searching for a 37-42ft cruiser that can be a part time live aboard and extended cruiser. I have about $45,000 burning a hole in my pocket with a little more for upgrades. Anyone selling or suggestions on brokerages would be greatly appreciated.

Check with Randy Watson at Cape Yachts in Cocoa Beach, Fl, a good and experienced yacht broker. I bought my 39' from him in April. He will treat you fair and work to help you find the right boat for you. Tell him B Brut sent you.

This might work. May have an engine issue but maybe not.

Here's the boat for you.....1984 Catalina 38. Stunning. Tumblehome design, by Sparkman and Stephens. Very cool boat. Google them. They are rare, and highly sought after. This is one of the nicest you'll find. Everything new or recently new. She will be advertised in the next couple of weeks. She's $47,500, but $44K will work. Whoever is lucky enough to become the new owner of "lucky Star", will be very pleased.

Re: 37-42ft Cruiser

Thanks for all the replies and advice. It is all greatly appreciated. I have found 2 boats of interest...a 1991 Hunter 375 and a 1989 Beneteau 40. I believe that either of these will probably suit my needs of local coastal cruising, and would be able to make it much farther once I get some sea time under my belt.

Re: 37-42ft Cruiser

Hey Dutch:

Heres some advice, as an experienced sailor, yacht broker, and delivery captain - since 1987...at thei price you will looking at an older boat, BUT you can find one that has been restored, or rebuilt..look at the condition of the expensive stuff, engine, sails, rigging, electrical. Find one that someone has already replaced these items, and don't sweat the little stuff. That's part of the fun of your project, getting all the rest just the way you want it. I specialize as a BUYERs broker on the east coast, and may know where some of these boats are hiding....you can reach me directly on captdougcp1 at gmail dot com

Cheers,
Capt Morgan (Doug)
