Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

Am leaving the vessel for 3-4 months, now this time its in a wet berth, intend isolating the LFP unless I succesfully get talked out of it. Now I got 2 arrays of Solar one thru a 100-50 Victron and a 75-15. Should I just leave them both connected to the sealed LA starter battery. Need power available to run Bilge pump, and to see if I have battery power will have AIS connected.
Tried to create another profile on Victron MPPT but neither will let me maybe beacause its networked to the BMS. Thoughts welcome on suggesting LA Abs and float voltage, if I leave my LFP connected then how do I top up LA, any suggestion on why can't add another Profile to MPPT. Thks

Disconnect the LFP definitely, before only charge it to 3,4V (change parameter end of charge). What BMS do you run that the MPPT cannot be switched to another lead Profil? Victron, unplug the VE port then you can change profiles.
I would just connect the 75/15 to the starter, actually have that fixed installed with a selector switch for unattended berthing. If it’s a Victron unplug the VE port, connect it to the starter and choose the standard Profil that fits your starter chemistry.

I have 2 of these on the boat for emergent needs .

Which means now you have a Fire hazard on board, these are LI-ion chemistry…no LifePo4 can do that current draw and are much bigger then the ones in your mobile…

Research the pack a bit more it is not a 12 volt but rather a single 2ah pouch that runs through a buck converter to rapidly discharge into your fla to boost it to starting voltage .
It is not a short circuited cylindrical cell like in a tesla or any other ev .
DO YOUR RESERCH . I HAVE.
