Yep reasonable thing. Pretty much the same boat as the Grainger Axure 38 and the Seawind 1200

Re: Perry 40 Catamaran

Not a bad boat. It started out as the Azure 37, built by Azure yachts. Designed by Tony Grainger. Then the moulds were obtained by Brian Perry, another boatbuilder.

Like many cats back in the day, the 37 had too little buoyancy at the stern to take davits and weight of the dinghy so eventually a 3ft extension was put on the boats - hence the Perry 40. If you look carefully at the chamfer panel, you can see that the front is out of the water but the aft end is under water. The extensions cleaned up the wake but didn't lift the stern appreciably.

Perry updated the design and started afresh with the Perry 43. The moulds were obtained by Seawind and for a while they built them as the Seawind 1200.

cheers

Thanks guys - really appreciate their development history. Regarding performance do they slam appreciably, how well do they point, what are their strengths and weaknesses?
