Charter boats are GREAT

A group of Moorings charterers lost a boat in storm while out for the week. It has been missing for over a year. They found the boat and realized that they were sailing with the hatches open. This made the boat sink quickly when they got knocked down. It was still flying the Jolly Roger when they found it!

They raised the boat and got the engine started in just a few hours! The personal items, including wallets and case are being returned to the charter guests, presumably along with a reminder to close the hatches next time.

A little cleaning and varnish and it will sail again! Any takers? This boat has low hours and has not chartered in the past year.

That is so cool! Thanks for posting those pix.
You can't keep a good baot down?

Cheers,

Jim

PS And some folks wonder why cruisers often avoid areas with lots of charter boats!

The outside would be no trouble to clean up at all. Inside on the other, what a nightmare.

Re: Charter boats are GREAT

I'm told they had the portlights open on a breezy day and had only just made it out of Road Harbour in the BVI before they filled it up! Amazing.
