No AC on Jeanneau... please help

We're on board in Marina. 2001 Jeanneau 43DS

Shorepower light in ON, but we have no power to any of 240V circuit, water heater or battery charger.

RCD in the outside cable locker didn't trip, but has been reset.

I have no idea what to do next.

Would appreciate some thoughts

:-)

Re: No AC on Jeanneau... please help

240V 60Hz has the potential to kill you if you’re not careful. It would be my advice to get a knowledgeable electrician or technician with the proper tools to evaluate and fix the circuit.

What they’re likely to do is start at an upstream component and work their way down towards the end device measuring voltage at each point. Stopping when they’ve found which point doesn’t have voltage and correcting whatever issue they find there.

Your indication that the shore power light is on means there’s at least some voltage at that point.

Just to be clear, when you say the shore power light is on, do you mean on the light is illuminated on the main distribution panel?
If this is so, let's go for a simple one. Was the main power switched off or in the generator position?

Re: No AC on Jeanneau... please help

I think @Bill_O has found the most likely cause.

I've got a Jeanneau as well and this is a common problem for me whenever I do plug in to shore power - the light on the shore side is on and I have to flip the big breakers from "generator" to "short power".

Re: No AC on Jeanneau... please help

On new boats there is a main breaker right by the plug.

  1. Turn off all AC electric breakers at distribution panel
  2. Turn off shore power on dock
  3. Open compartment(s) in the stern until you can see back of shore plug
  4. Look for circuits breaker(s).
  5. Cycle ALL breakers off and on
  6. Get out of the compartment, but leave line of sight to the breakers by the plug
  7. Turn on shore power
  8. If breaker blows you need electrician!
  9. if breakers do not blow, go to distribution panel and turn things on one at a time.

I will check back in an hour.

on our 2004 DS43 there is a 2pole breaker under the nav station table, on the left inside, in the same compartment as the water valves and the expantion tank. when you open the door you cant see it .. the juntion box is mounted to the left of the opening.. reach your hand in there

it took me a half day of trouble shooting to find that btw

also .. directly in front of the panels is a wooden box approx 8"x16" that drops down in a hole.. lift the box out and look down in the hole and you'll see the juction box

not sure if youre directing that question to the OP or to me.. in my case the ultimate problem was .. the boat submerged.. so i refit everything .. once the new panels were installed and i plugged in shore power .. it took me a minute to trace all cables and find the junction box and breaker.. the breaker was corroded and shot

ill monitor to see what the OP's issue was
