Hunter 375 Legend Grohe Faucet Question

Hi: I have a 1992 Hunter 375 Legend. I believe the plumbing fixtures are original and would like to keep them that way. The kitchen faucet has a drip, BUT I cannot for the life of me figure out how to take the handles off and replace/repair the valves. There are no "normal" set screws, I've heard that you simply pull them off but try as I might that does not work. I'll try to post a photo of the fixture. Thanks you for any help on this!

Re: Hunter 375 Legend Grohe Faucet Question

Appears it's just brute strength, here's a link to a discussion of these handles on a plumbing forum with some helpful photos of the valve.

Thank you Calif.Ted! I'll try this and report back - may need to go to the gym first though BTW, if Calif refers to California, our hailing port is Oceanside.

Re: Hunter 375 Legend Grohe Faucet Question

Your welcome Murray, I'm in Dana Point, haven't been to Oceanside in awhile, I think there was still a Jolly Roger restaurant last time.
Good luck with your faucet. I think I'd have to try pulling while "wiggling" the handle a little every day until it maybe breaks free.

Re: Hunter 375 Legend Grohe Faucet Question

Do an internet search on the cartridge part numbers before you purchase replacements.
Some Grohe faucets use generics. Purchased several Glacier Bay faucets from HD and removed them for a fraction of what 1 cost buying them as Grohe.

Thank you Calif.Ted and Turtle Blues - Reporting back with good results! Yep, brute strength did it. Seemed to work better opening the valve (not shut off) and pulled very hard (watch your knuckles better than I did!). Once off, the valve was accessible but suggest using an open end wrench as the valve was on very tight - lefty loosey not reverse thread. Contacted Grohe with photos and they sent me a replacement valve number - URL below. They were very helpful and got someone on the phone first try! BUT FIRST simply soaked the valves in white vinegar for the night and cleaned off lots of mineral buildup with warm water. Reinstalled with a bit of valve grease and it worked like a charm - no drips. I appreciate all the feedback and advise! Valve replacement through Grohe: recommend retaining the plastic "sprocket" and nut for the handle - doesn't look like the replacement valve comes with them.
