Wildcat 350 Sail deminsoins

Hello,

We have owned our WILDCAT 350 for over a year now, This was a salvage and when we got there was no head sail and not sure if it had the orginal main sail... I have ordered new main and had head sail fitted as well.

But still not able to sail down wind, she keeps wanting to go to weather, no matter if I reaf main or what.

Does any one out there have the actual MAIN and HEAD sail deminsions for this boat, tried to find on internet but only gives sail area.

Please help before we order new sails.....and unable to find wildcat builder....

Thank you

Try reaching out to Jeff Schionning as I believe that was one of his designs.

And apparently North Sails will be able to help, since they will have the dimensions. Google is your friend!

Wildcats are renowned for their safety, high levels of comfort, and their speed. Built with quadriaxial fibreglass and balsa core, the Wildcat 350 is a fast sports cruiser that will tack through 90°. According to the designer, she will sail at 8 - 10 knots to windward and 10 - 13 knots off the wind with a No.1 Genoa in a 15 knot breeze. Sails are by North Sails, hardware by Harken and Anderson.

Quantum also built sails for the WildCat.

Sounds like you may have a steering issue, not a sail issue. The Wildcats dont tend to have bad weather helm.

Well....Charter Cats, the builder, tended to build them heavier than the spec so most are a bit slower. Mine, w feathering props, will cruise pretty easily at about 7.5 in 15 knots AWS. With a bit more wind, and ideal conditions, into the 8-10 range. 10.5 is the fastest sustained speed Ive maintained under sail. Surfed to 15...in moderately heavy conditions...didnt like that.

Tacking angle of 90d is overly optimistic for any cruising cat. 120d is more realistic, but you can then come up to a tighter sailing angle. Mine sails easily at 40 AWA and will pinch to 30.
