Problems with a new boat

of the problems experienced with a brand new Trader mobo costing the equivalent of more than $2m, and the worst example of customer service in the world.

Personally I would not touch a boat from this company with a barge pole

Ummm,"de ja vu"?? didn't we have another thread series that started inocently on the same subject once. It became one of the longest running messes of arguments pertaining to boatmanship, eletism, members pedigree and safety colours we have ever seen.;-) I do hope "IT" remains as the winner. ;-) :-)

But anyways, as to the subject, MATE!!! I know what I would be doing. I would be refusing payment, telling the builder where he can "park his boat" :-0 and go find another builder and start again.

Too late, the owner had already paid. The builder does not have enough viable funds to throw the boat back and go to court - he would probably lose boat and money! So he has little option but to continue to seek redress.

What a bloody horror story, but goes with my way of thinking that just because you pay good money for a boat, doe'snt always mean you get a good boat.

Goes to show. I would never have thought a survey would be needed on a brand-new boat! A lesson for me if I ever win the lottery.......

They sure don't build them like they used to.

I believe there's an adage about nothing more dangerous than a new boat. I know I've talked to a couple of delivery skippers who say a new boat without sea trial is the scariest prospect for them.

I wonder if it was a case of cheapest quote won? Because with a list like that, it sounds like the builder was out of his depth with skilled worker and expertese.
Sometimes the cheapest quote can be the most expensive one.

Same boats obtained through a different agent appear not to have such major problems, and any snags are put right quickly (as you would expect with a boat of this cost)

If I won the lottery and thus could afford to spend this much money, I would know from this debacle that having my own surveyor attend the build would be a very cost effective precaution.
