This picture is f*#! awesome. You should win something for it. It should also be on a magazine cover.

Send it to Lats and Atts! Maybe they'll put it on the cover!

Re: Seraphim Pounding Upwind in Heavy Air

I don't understand why that boat is pounding like that... something is wrong. In 25-35 with no really big waves in sight, the bow should not be so far out of the water. I'd certainly rather have a small staysail up than a furled genoa. Why have a cutter rig if you're not going to use it?

It's an impressive photo, but I don't take any pleasure in seeing a boat sailed in a less than optimal manner. Just my opinion, of course.

Re: Seraphim Pounding Upwind in Heavy Air

A good photo but I can't imagine why on earth you would smash your boat like that?? maybe a good bottle of booze to be won?? in the offshore sailing that I've done, the story is "Look after the boat" as it's your biggest liferaft. Looks like it's all go and don't care about what's going on below??? I recently delivered a boat from Tauranga to Nelson (NZ) a distance of around 730nml we had in excess of 45knts and over 4mtr seas for 2 days with gales the last 2 days of the trip, if we'd have sailed like the picture there wouldn't have been a boat to deliver. Makes me wonder some times?? Sorry to burst your bubble but?
