Attention Site Administrator...problem here!

When I come to this site I get a warning message from my "Spy Sweeper" software, warning me that a program: "EO.extreme-dm.com" has attempted to access my computer and was blocked. It goes on to say this site is a known spy ware site.

So what's the scoop? Why is this program tied to your site and why is it trying to gain access to my pooter?

Thanks,

TJ

Hey Yachts66

Somewhere along the journey on the INternet you've picked up a "mole" that harvests honest URL's from cookies in the temporary Internet files folder. What you can do is update your Virus & Spyware software and purge all your temporary Internet files plus the cookies. I know it's a PITA to have to re-logon to all the forums, bank sites, etc. that you use but it's probably the only thing you can do.

Thanks Knotty, and you're right it is a ROYAL pain to delete all those. It seems my anti spyware program is doing the job so I'll hold off for now. Funny though, this is the only site that gives me that error message. Wonder why that is?

Regards,

TJ

Those things are designed to spoof legitimate sites to mask their true intentions. We had a rash of e-mail spoofs awhile back. One of those cookies has been re-written with the URL to this site and your Spyware software is detecting the corruption. I don't think there's anything wrong with this site or server or my Spyware would be going wacky as well. Try the fix, you might be able to find the individual offending cookie and delete it.

I offen click onto links when I see them in posts on this site and others I visit.Sometimes, not allways,we have a banner pop up the lets us know that the site was associated with Identidy theft and asks if we want to procede. Is that the same sort of thing with the cookies?Mudnut.

There were some issues with the site a couple days ago. It is possible we have another clock problem. This has happened befroe, and will cause posts to appear out of order. I will look into it if it occures anywhere else.

Anytime someone votes on the poll it re-runs the last post, no matter who it was or what date it was.

It shows a contributor even if they have only contributed to the poll, not made a post. Nothing sinister.

If your problem was site related others would be having the same problem. I certainly havn't experienced anything untoward so my guess is that admins response is correct. (Unless of course my spyware detector isn't working and that's not a thought I wish to entertain.)

It is probably good general practice to purge your cookies periodically and relogin to your faves anyway. Or just identify the cookies from your faves and don't purge them, purge the rest.

Re: Attention Site Administrator...problem here!

Help ! I wrote a very detailed post on an alternator, to battery question I have, but when I tryed to post it in the proper forum, it said that forum had ended. I'd really rather not try to duplicate the post, though I will, but I saved it to my time line, which no one is following, and tryed to 'share' it to the engineering forum. Still no joy! Advice please.
