Re: Image Issue

Like Tacomasailor, hitting refresh is no help for me either. I too, use Chrome. Same issue on my Android tablet.

Re: Image Issue

Thank goodness! I thought I was going crazy. I tried to post a photo yesterday and got that silly rotate image thing. If I'm signed in I can't see the image in the post but I guess everyone else can. I can see it if I don't sign in. Of course the darn thing is upside down now.

I fixed it for you

The "rotate image" function should be a big plus when it is up and working properly. I lot of posting is done from smart phones and tablets which have limited photo manipulation tools, so an easy way to fix a photos orientation will be handy.

At the moment its obviously causing some problems with some browsers (although it is working fine for me with Safari). The tech people are aware of the problem so hopefully it will be fixed soon. Apologies for the frustration.

In the meantime the moderators are on the lookout for rotated photos and will fix any that they see. If you are desperate to insert a photo and cannot, PM the link to one of the moderators and we should be able to paste it in for you.

Re: Image Issue

When is this problem going to be resolved - it has been occurring for several weeks and is annoying?

I am now seeing only the "rotate image" message in both Chrome and IE 9.

The image appears the right side up and exactly as I want in Go Advanced / Preview but not in the forum when I do a save.

Can this problem be resolved?

I'm on an iPad and can see the picture oriented properly but the lower half of the picture is not there, it's grey.

Re: Image Issue

Isn't there a way to opt out of this option?

Loading an image to see if it still is screwed up.

Ok, so the stupid part about this is you can't see the image in order to know if you would have to rotate it anyway. And the obvious thing we would do when we can't see the image but the clickable words "rotate image" is to click on it, which then rotates the unseen image.

Refreshing the page doesn't change anything for me.

The issue has been reported to the technical people.

There is currently no way to opt out of it.
Sorry this is occuring, please have some patience. It will eventually be sorted out

In the meantime, I think everyone else can see your image (or at least half the image), so my suggestion is to check "Preview Post" before hitting "Submit reply" (most people are reporting they can view this normally).

Re: Image Issue

The new CF picture posting software is just horrible. All you see is "rotate image" and you fall for clicking to see what is wrong and hoping to see your image it rotates it and you don't see that either. Then when you post, it is sideways. And clicking on it to see it larger often results in only half of the image showing. It sucks.

Another case in point-

Re: Image Issue

You should only be seeing the rotate image option on your own images. We added this because many images loaded from smart phones and other mobile devices are upside down and this give the poster an easy way to correct the issue.

If you have attached an image and aren't seeing it, it's possible that you have a slow connection of need to do a page refresh. We load images to posts after the text so it may be that they simply haven't arrived at your device yet.

Re: Image Issue

Janet,
I don't think that is how it is working. If we post a picture, we can't see it in order to know if it needs to be rotated. Days after posting, I still can't see my own picture. The picture I posted in this thread over two weeks ago still doesn't show. The only way to see it is to go in advanced and preview your post.

So, in the very - very - very unlikely situation where you want to rotate the photo, you need to post it, press the "rotate image" link, then edit your post, go advanced and preview it to make sure the orientation is correct, then re-save it.

It seems to me to be a real pain imposed on the vast majority for the benefit of the very few.

Are you posting from a PC or some mobile device? can you supply me with details?

Re: Image Issue

PC on windows 7 pro but I don't think that is related. I'm actually thinking no one can see their own images anymore.
