Angry Lost formatting

OK. How do I get paragraphs and spacing in my posts? Everything looks great until I preview or post and then all my wonderful formatting is gone. It’s all squashed together.Ed

Hi Ed,
It might help if you tell us what hardware and software your running. I run a Mac at on location and a PC at another. The page does come up different with the two systems.

BTW are you using the "quick post" or the "advanced post"???

In the upper LH corner of the advanced post the is a A/A, which is a "remove text formating". Have you actuated that?

Angry formatting

Hi,I have been using the “Advanced Post” on a Dell PC with Windows 2000 and Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0.The upper right hand corner of the edit window shows AA with a red cross through it. It does not respond to being pressed. Highlighting the text before pressing the button makes no difference.Ed

If you disable Javascript in your browser, most of the features of the editing window don't work. As far as I know, the result is consistent with the problem description you are giving.

Note that Javascript is not Java and is not ActiveX - it's another thing entirely.

I don't use Windows or IE, so I can't tell you exactly how to enable Javascript. I seem to remember it is in some settings window that has about 50 rows of checkboxes.

Angry Javascript

I have tried IE "Tools, Internet Options, Advanced" and the closest option I have found is "Java Console Enabled". Unfortunately, setting this option did not make any difference. Does anyone know how to enable Javascript in IE? An IE help search did not find ANY topic, even under the reduced search string "java". Thanks Microsoft!!I also went into Norton Internet Security and set the cruisersforum web-site for disabled privacy. This didn't do anything either.Still formatless,Ed

I'm not that savy with PC's but if you look at the top of your window and find the word "Explorer", click on that and there should be a pull down menu. Click on preferences. There is a java slot in the box and in the java, all the java boxes are checked on mine.

Sometimes I just have to ask my 9 year old nephew how to fix things on the computers. Just keep plugging away, you'll find the problem. Then 6 months later you'll forget what you did.

Ed,

Try this:
To Enable Java Script for Internet Explorer 1. Open Internet Explorer Browser
2. Select Tools from main menu
3. Select Internet Options
4. Click on Security Tab
5. Choose Internet
6. Under Internet click the Custom Level command button
7. Select Scripting of Java Applets
8. Choose Enable
9. Click OK
10. Click Apply
11. Click OK

Good luck!

Question Changed Computer

Well folks,
I tried everyone's helpful suggestions and unfortunately, all of the relevant boxes were already checked for all the different flavors of Java.
My next step was to swap machines. This posting is written on a laptop under XP. Same IE; Same Norton. The laptop goes back to the boat with me in two weeks time, so I think I may just blow off the problem on the tower until I get back from the 2006 cruise. Thank you all for all your advice.
Ed

BTW, In case it is not obvious, the formatting works on this machine!?!
