This thread is a classic example. I went to "new posts" today - it was not in the new posts, yet when I looked it up in the "forum tech" area, it had been posted on. Something's up (BTW- I went back a few pages on my unread area and it wasnt there either. Hmmm...

Yep, I just updated and the thread is in the "Recent Threads" but not in "New Posts".

By default you get subscribed to threads you post in. If you go to your User CP you will see a list of subscribed threads that have been updated.

Frank, I was aware of that but just did a check. My (this) thread was not there. In my subscribed threads that is, and neither is the thread on the storm off of Nova Scotia.

Frank, I clicked on the "Show all Threads" button at the bottom of the subscribed threads page and both of my threads showed up. Maybe because I hadn't logged off is the reason they didn't show up on the first page.

They won't show up unless there are new posts. When you post the system assumes you have read it therefore your post is not new.

It will list in the all threads as you saw.

ah-excuse me sir...( do go away yet Frank...)I know there are new posts, yet I can't find them unless I go to the Forums section and scroll down to the specific area. Why don't they show up in my "New Posts" box?

Hmm.. good question.

You hit the item in the menu that says "New Posts"?

Is there a specific forum the new posts aren't showing up that you expect there to be posts in?

I guess that's one way to solve the problem. Maybe a better solution would be to make weather a full forum instead of a sub forum.

Edit: I meant that moving the thread to a different forum solved this particular problem.

Deepfrz.... Maybe that's the glitch???? My missing (ie invisible unless I specifically searched for them) Were also in a sub category???? Dunno....

Just seems a bummer when a question or post gets sucked into the abyss waiting for a new member to unknowingly reply to a ten year old post!

Anyway... As frustrating as the relatively few times there are hiccups... Hats off, and my thanks to CF and the mods for all of their efforts...
