New Thread doesn't show up in recent threads.

I started a new thread under "Seamanship ..." subthread "Weather" titled "Storm off of Nova Scotia". The post is visible when I open the forum but does not show up in "Recent Threads". Is there some reason why that I don't know about?

Maybe because it's not being actively posted to yet since it started an hour ago.

Other threads are more active and have pushed it down and off the recent list.

I had the same idea as Four Winds, and was typing while he put his entry in.

It hasn't made your thread appear in the portal though.

I had this problem once putting a thread in the Weather sub section. I ended up deleteing the thread and reposting not in the sub section. Try it. I think it is a glitch in CF's system.

I have moved the thread to "General Sailing" if it is the weather forum that is misbehaving that should solve the problem.

If it helps, mine was under Mono's.... Never once appeared in the "recent posts" maybe with the bump from Matt, not sure... I actually had to PM him to get traffic there...

If you have viewed your post then left CF an then returned to CF and no one has posted to your thread since your last visit you will not see your thread. To see your thread just use "search" and a word or two from the title of your thread and you will see your thread.

It sounds like there is a problem that's not just related to that forum.

Be aware that if you are logged in "new posts" will only show you new posts that you have not read, but the thread should appear in the "portal" or ("today's posts" if you are not logged in.)

Wasn't the case with mine.... Went from posting the thread to reloading the "recent posts" page a few times.... with several other CF tabs going and posting... Guessing Deepfrz will say the same....

I can see what you're saying though... Makes sense!

Haven't used the Portal myself, so didn't know it was labeled "Recent Threads" once there. Nor have I used the New Posts tab.

I thought DeepFrz was referring the the "Recent Discussions" list located on the right side of the window. This is how I use the forum to browse active threads in near real time. Of course threads drop down that list based on activity. And my post to DF's thread did bump it back to that list. Just to clarify for the troubleshooters.

Lots of ways to use the forum, and sometimes confusing.

I noticed this in the past Janet. Sometimes it is embarrassing, as when Charlie Cobra responded directly to my question in his thread and I never got it on "New Posts". Other times it is less obvious but threads do disappear and reappear on my computer with great regularity....
I thought maybe your were pulling the treads I follow because they were too controversial .

Thanks Janet. I think that by someone else posting to the thread it got on to the list, however it wasn't until I had gone to bed in the wee hrs...
