One or two rudders?

Which option do you guys/gals prefer on your sailboat (45)?

One single protected skeg rudder or two regular rudders?

My 42 ft catamaran has two skeg protected rudders that I'm quite fond of, but I don't think that's what you mean.

I think the desire for two rudders on monohulls stems from designs with very wide sterns. The wide sterns, like those on extreme offshore racing boats, tend to lift a centerline rudder too far out of the water when heeled.
