A couple of years ago I remember Andy addressing this. Not logged in, you get them...but logged in you did not.

Tonight I had my ad blocker disabled and noticed the ads... No biggie.

Google ads have always been used to keep the lights on. Maybe you just did not notice them before (but they were there).

Logged in members see smaller ads, guests see larger ads. It's been this way for a long time.

I see no adds, but I use Unix and do not partake of Social Knowledge....
