Starlink routers

I am trying to use a non Starlink router so that I can run my system on 12vdc and it’s not working. Does anyone know which routers will work with Starlink which I connect to 12vdc direct or via transformer?

The antenna runs off a high voltage (~48V) POE connection. There are LOTS of internet resources on how to do this. Simply connecting to a router and feeding it 12V will most certainly not work. A regualr router will NOT power the antenna. You have to do that separately.

As far as I know pretty much any router will work with the antenna, as long as you feed the antenna the right power through the right wires in the cable. Nothing particualrly special about the Starlink Router.

Re: Starlink routers

I got rid of my Pepwave router and went back to the Starlink router using a small dedicated Victron inverter. The Starlink router does everything I need (I often have a dozen devices connected from cameras to smart TVs). Unless you have unusual and special needs of a router - or a boat over 60ft long where more range is needed - there's really not much advantage to going 12v

I saw no improvement in power use with the Pepwave (probably because the Pepwave uses more power than most routers). But even with a very low power router expect to save only about 5 watts going 12v.
