Uploading KML Files into OpenCPN

Hello,

I am trying to overlay some square boxes saved as kml files into OpenCPN. The kmls were created using OSGeo4W from .shp files. The kml files will upload fine to google earth and display in a correct manner.

When I wasnt able to upload the .kml I created MBTILES (tried with converting the kml and the original shp) and while these did display, the layers which should consist of multiple small rectangles appeared as one large rectangle far larger than they are represented in the kml.

Any advice is hugely appreciated!

There are many kml to gpx convertors... search online
