Re: Yearly CF Support

I'll be glad to contribute such a small sum to support such a worthwhile forum, but I don't want to open a paypal acc't. I'd like to pay with a one time payment using a debit card. When the guy gets back in town, ask him to set up this type of payment that so many seem to be comfortable with. No one is comfortable with someones' finger inserted in your bank account.

You can clear a CC or debit card through PayPal without a PayPal account.

Re: Yearly CF Support

Someone got my wife's paypal acc't last June and she got a notice from paypal her acc't was charged $81.91 from Napster, an acc't she did not have. Even though she called her bank at nine a.m. New Mexico time to stop it, it was too late due to the fact that the funds had already been dispensed at midnight. She contacted napster and demanded her $ back; they refused. She contacted paypal to return her $; they refused even though she had recieved no goods or services. That is why my wife closed her paypal acc't and refuses to trust them.

Do a little research and you will find that complaints like this are legion with Paypal. They are a crooked "company" and are definitely not your "pal". I would not do any sort of transaction with them which involved me giving them any financial info whatsoever, let alone my bank account info. They are a great path to fraud and identity theft. Frankly I'm surprised when I see anyone do business with them.

Re: Yearly CF Support

CF Mods!!! and Web Master...This has been an issue for a looooong time now. A lot of us want to support the forum. Please find an easier way than Paypal and an ongoing charge!

Re: Yearly CF Support

Does anybody know how I can cancel the automatic renewal now, without waiting for a notice? I can't find any link to do so.

Re: Yearly CF Support

Go to your PayPal account, the next pending payment is listed as ACTIVE. Click on details of that payment, scroll down to to your credit card area and you can cancel the supscription.

If you paid by credit card directly, the only way to cancel the subscription is to close out the card and get a new one. Ran into this situation with another subcription service, not CF

Re: Yearly CF Support

I guess the mssg. that most people just don't want paypal to have our information in the 1st place is lost on the mods. Oh well, if they ever have another way to pay, I'll be glad to support them. Another example of wanting to support CF is the burgees; only upgraded members can get a burgee for $25 bucks, the un-upgraded can have one for $50 bucks so, no burgee, 'cause the only way to get one for regular price is: Paypal!

Re: Yearly CF Support

I'm not sure what is so bad about PayPal compared to any other online payment method, that's assuming that you don't give them access to your checking account. I know they press you for that access, but ignore it. I have a PayPal account for 10 yrs, I've never upgraded to their "verified" level. If all they have is your credit card on file, it's hard for them to abuse it. And you have automatic protection against fraud. It's no different than your card on file with Amazon or any other online vendor.

You may be confusing the role of moderators with that of site administrators. The moderators moderate the forum, the administrators administer it. Our mods are volunteers who provide their service as a way of giving something back to the cruising community.

I can assure you that not much is "lost on the mods."

Be nice.

Re: Yearly CF Support

We've used PayPal for 10 years or more, both for payments out of a bank checking account and by credit card. Never had a speck of trouble. It's quick, convenient and easy to use. Don't know what all the fuss is about.

Re: Yearly CF Support

If you tie your Credit card to your paypal account,,,then you just use Paypal,,but it will now give you the choice by which method to take payment out of,,Credit card, bank withdrawl etc

which reminds me :/

Correct Bash....thanks.

Us mods are pretty much just the cleaning people. We don't own the house.

You say that.

I became a mod so I could get a green badge and CF Burgee for free, since I refuse to use Paypal....
