My very best wishes for the future and heartfelt condolences for the loss of your best friend.

I was once accused of not being friendly to a fellow yachtie that had been rude prior to our meeting again. I responded with the following comment, "If I want a true friend, I'll buy a dog."

That sentiment still stands to this day.

Our dog is family so I can't even imagine how awful this is for you and my heart goes out to you. But as terrible as the outcome was I'm glad you can at least stop wondering where he is. We lost our cat overboard this summer (she was in the water clinging to another boat's swim ladder for two days and died in my arms that night) but not knowing where she was was agony.
