if this is the whole story, then the officers had absolutely nothing to fear - and no reason to run like rabbits... As you say, the incident would have been cleared up by the State Dept - within the hour I'd wager.

Well, that's some bravado in theory but, as I posted earlier, I (still) bet that you'd have a different view if the offence was against you or your property.

I mean, I T-bone your pretty catamaran...and run. And you'd admire my "cognitive abilities" for "making decisions which will best care for (my) wellbeing"? Sorry shagger, but that's a bridge too far...

No mate, leave it. And thanks for the advice - I ought to head for that zone too. As they say, discretion is the better part of valour.

Martinique Stilwell, I believe your article is an admission of regret and an attempt to justify the transgressions of your youth. Another soul is suffering the consequences of your compromised accusations, and I sincerely doubt that you will be able to relieve yourself of this spiritual burden until you pray creatively for forgiveness.

Get your facts straight Bud..
I don't remember him being convicted of assault or GBH, just the robbery.... and Mills died 6 years later of lukemia, a more likely reason for never working again than a black eye and concussion.... else I can think of at least 17 occassions in my past when I should have claimed invalid benifits and never worked again... it was good money back in those days....

Maybe he didn’t rape the woman, but he certainly put himself in a precarious position “entertaining” her alone on his boat. If you knowingly play with a cobra don’t act the victim when it bites you – you’re just a snake bit dumb-ass. Maybe he did rape the woman and then made the mistake of not retaining the attorneys who got South African President Jacob Zuma off the same charges.

Went back 24 posts, and couldn't find a constructive reference to keeping this in "cruising news and events"
IMHO, it's right there with the Rocna/ Fortress war for going too far.

Actually I heard he was using a CQR on the night in question....
What I am curious about is... was it just carried on the womans word... or was there physical evidence to back her claims... ie; bruise's, Dna, etc.... can't seem to find anything other than media speculation but no hard evidence...

possibly repost as "this could happen to you in a foreign port, what do you do",not reffering to the case in question but the very real risk of getting arrested and prosecuted whilst cruising.

i have no objections to the thread being closed/removed.

all the members that knew hans have contacted me privately allready.
