Sure, with the mast anchored down to get the growth on the topsides.

Obviously, they were out bobbing around for a while. I surely do wish they hadn't done this.

It's really bad for everybody, even them, even if they make some money from it. Nobody likes people who perpetrate hoaxes.

There is an interesting exercise to do with people, it works especially well in groups.

Ask them to close or cover their eyes. Then ask them to point to north. Some people immediately or with little thought point to north. Some take a few moments to think about it, and others just give blank stares or incredulous looks at being asked to do such a stupid and pointless thing.

'Point to north? Why would I know where the hell north is? What a stupid question!'

It's about a third each in my experience.

Just enough provisions to have little freeboard. Wait in Hawaii's unoccupied islands and then set sail? If it smells like fish?

This is the best (and most humorous) deeper-dive I've seen on these nitwits...

Re: HI->Tahiti Dingbats found after 5 months

I posted this on the other thread but here’s what I think ....

They left Hawaii, they went SOMEWHERE, hung out for a few months, got bored, sailed some more and invented this cocked up story for fun.

That explains everything. Just waiting for some guy to show up with a HUGE unpaid bar bill looking for these gals.

Classic and well researched, though even he missed some key elements.

That broad belongs in jail, repaying her "rescue." Too bad she purportedly dropped her Obamaphone overboard on day one.

Anybody else want to claim we should hold judgment until "all the facts are in"? I say stick them on an outer islet of Otong Java and leave them to their own devices, let's see how well they survive.

This movie sounds like it will be as bad as that piece of **** Robert Redford was in. The Tiger Sharks scene where they hear the dogs inside barking and try to bite through the hull will be about as realistic as Redford trying to tighten a knurled antenna fitting with an adjustable wrench, or shaving instead of pumping out a boat still afloat. There is definitely some major ******** going on with this story. I say separate them for a few hours with tooth pics holding their eyelids open, some flood lights and a "is it safe " front tooth nerve drill and see how the real story shakes out.

Hey all, just a heads up. As this seems to be shaking out none too nicely for these 2, let's try to remember to keep it clean, civil, nice and apolitical.

Re: HI->Tahiti Dingbats found after 5 months

so far I haven't seen any evidence of foul play. Who cares about their fishy story regarding storms, sharks, engine etc. Who cares if they float around? Navy found them, they didnt really cost US tax payer any money out of negligence. The big question is what clues are on that vessel that could point to some foul play. Was there a competent sailor on there at one point? Someone who could actually speak in maritime language and give account of what took place. Because all this other stuff thats coming out of their mouths is just gibberish.

I am curious, nobody is commenting on the Geiger counter story of the two beauties. I guess they are ON PURPOSE sailing to Japan and get caught by the marines there where they should not have been.

I guess they were heading west instead of south.

I was also wondering about that. An off the shelf Ludlum model 3 (common meter, don’t actually know what they had) isn’t going to show them elevated levels of radiation from contamination, only gross levels of exposure. Where on earth were they going they even thought it would be useful? Who keeps one of these around (I do, but it was old surplus from work).

This "plan" was probably launched around a Maui Wowwie powered drum circle and your search for logic and reality-based decision making is going to really frustrate you.

The author is a bragger who doesn't even know that you don't need salted freshwater to cook noodles at sea.
The other inconsistencies in their story could also turn out to be credible - if one had all the information. It is stupid to have a "proof", which for example is based on the fact that dogs cannot be fed permanently with carbohydrates, if it is not clear at all whether dog food was part of the provisions - which according to the interview was the case. etc.

It gets stranger every day....

Key parts of women's tale of survival at sea contradicted - Chicago Tribune

Read to the end...they asked for; received and then refused help from a fishing vessel just prior to the arrival of the Navy.
