the most I have done was about 2 weeks on one tack. Had growth on hull above the anti fouling paint. ( not as bad as on the vessel in question but you do a couple weeks on each side alternating and I bet the growth can get quite bad.)

How can you sail on one tack with the sails furled?

any drifting object will float beam on to the wind, this would put it either on a port or stb tack relative to the bow and motion through the water

NEWHAUL:

All our French and Australian Charts are in Meters. We have a few very old BA chart copies that are in fathoms. Feet is not universal at all, except in the US. I don't have any Canadian charts, but suspect they're in meters, too.

I'm sorry, newhaul, I didn't mean to yell at you at all. I put your name in caps so it would be easier to spot, that's all. If I were yelling, the whole thing might have been in bold.

No offense intended.

... This could also be an explanation to the FORCE 11 storm during the first days. Maybe they read just 11kn wind speed on their anemometer and translate it to FORCE 11.

Ahh yes, the old feet/meters, Beaufort/knots problem. It’s been plaguing Mariners for years.

If you look closely, the line of growth is near the current waterline at the bow and stern, and rises towards amidships. It kinda implies they have been heeled over for a substantial time.

Anybody in Hawaii want to check the county records and see how many judgements the blonde dingbat has against her? I'll bet she's the money sucker type.
