Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

Laura took part in a talk show in TV in the Netherlands.
Link:

20 minutes was devoted to her. Unfortunately I can't understand the language, but maybe someone can summarise. According to her guestbook she made a good impression. She seemed a little shy in the beginning but much more talkative and relaxed towards the end.

Wow, what an impressive young woman. I would certainly tip my hat to her.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

She has the tenacity to fight her government for a year, the circumnavigation was for her, probably the easy part. It appears after the boat show she will transit the canal again since she sailed Guppy to Bonaire. She missed NZ last time around, big question....

Will she settle in NZ ?
or
Complete a 2nd circumnavigation and return to Holland?

I don't think she has decided yet, might just depend on what she gets involved with in NZ. I know her taxes would be lower in NZ for the proceeds of her 2nd book.

No sheet!!! Holland probably spent a lot of coin trying to stop her, and now stands to lose probably $300K in taxes. Don't mess with a Dutch girl, if your not Dutch, your not much.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

She is apparently little less media shy now, since she appeared in one more talk show: de laatste show, the late show. Dutch language. Maybe she, as most sports people, can't avoid liking being celebrated after the win. Because she has won, the youth care has apologised and media celebrates her in the Netherlands.

I hope the person from the TV production company who created the graphics never acts as a navigator. Since when was Darwin at the tip of the cape York peninsular ? LOL

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

I can translate easily. Just came from the boat and have to answer some 100 mails.

Will look later on. Boat is gradually coming into shape. No more Miss Scrapheap.
Paint job planned end of the month.

Topsides will be black metallic anthracite and deck/superstructure will be pearl glimme (as Alfa Romeo)r off white. Consider teak decking. Very useful in all climates.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

She will attend a German TV talk show on Wednesday March 14, called Gottschalk Live, on ARD, the number one German channel. I who know some German will try to translate it if I manage.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

This is the translation from the Dutch show. You can trust it because it wasn't me that translated.......

Edit by SaucySailoress: I have removed the translation of the copyrighted interview, as per request from Laura's publicist. I would like to remind members about the section of our rules refering to referencing other sources:

Quote:
Do not post protected or copyrighted material. Information copyrighted or owned by any individual or entity other than the member should not be posted on the discussion forums without the consent of the owner. If such an event occurs, the individual posting the information shall be held solely responsible. You cannot legally post entire articles or news in the forum without permission from the copyright holder. Even if you attribute the article correctly it’s still copyright infringement. Under Fair Use provisions you can legally post a small abstract of an article - or perhaps the opening paragraph. In either case please post a link to source. The exception to this rule is press releases; they are meant for distribution and can be copied and posted in their entirety. If you are not sure if you can copy something then always err on the side of caution and simply post a link to the material.
I have taken the unusual step of editing this post, rather than removing it entirely, since there are many responses to this post.
