Match.com worked for me after "sampling/dating" about a score or so match.com women.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

Trivia question for the followers of this thread (Hammond, refrain from answering). What is Laura's mom's profession? Remember, Babs started as a cruiser like all of us, so it might be something we all would do to earn some coin.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

Nobody could guess Laura's mom's profession?

I dare say, Laura is now one of us. Of the 3 of them, Jess, Abby, and her, she started with the cruising mentality, not caring about fame, just a love of sailing. The way she now describes events "We arrived in Hiva Oa after I don't know how many days at sea, since I didn't count them.", and just enjoying the cruising lifestyle, hooking up with other cruisers she has met in her travels, islanders and other locals. Island hopping in the South Pacific, taking her time, Bruno and her jamming with cruisers and local musicians (I knew Bruno given time, would get his sea legs), and feasting on both local foods and cultures, she is a cruiser, and welcome to the club, Laura.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

Now that Laura is no longer out breaking records, having secured the "Youngest to Solo Circumnavigate", she is just one of us now, a solo cruiser meeting new friends and hooking up with other cruisers she has met in her previous travels. At anchorages now in the South Pacific, she isn't the little girl that sailed around the world by herself, but rather just another cruiser. Jessica and Abby never had the chance to graduate to be a cruiser because they never made a land fall or set foot off their boat during their voyage.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

Laura has decided now is the time to end the one-and-a-half lap around the world. She will very soon (tomorrow?) leave Tahiti for a non-stop journey to Whangarei New Zealand, where she will settle, a 2,200 nm long distance.

She admits it is not the perfect time of the year (winter) but I have full confidence in her sailing ability in any weather. She will have a little race against a 52 foot sloop having the same destination.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

bengtinge,

That is what see is telling us in her blog. Hammond, can you ever comment without countering someone else's post?

There is a chance Laura might be running low on funds, as Tahiti is rather expensive, plus it would be good planning on her part to get the book published prior to the Christmas buying season and not too far removed from the media blitz of her completion last January 13th.

It was January 21st...

Sorry! I did not counter bengtinge's post. I just wanted to say that nothing is sure about Laura's future life. Of course, she might settle in NZ for a while.

Re: Laura Dekker's Circumnavigation

She is now a licensed NZ driver. All she needs now is a 30+ year old diesel VW Vanagon and take her cruising inland. She seems to have no problem keeping aging diesels running.

Here you go Laura, right in your neighborhood.

Not yet. First she has to lean how to drive (it's impossible to do that in one week) and then she can get her license.
