Re: MacWester 26 and the 'hina-ous' Crew

I am getting tired just looking at the photos .

Just imagine, if you didn't have so many posts on CF - you'd be finished by now .

a quick watertight locker door

boat building 101!
though i would post this for anybody needing to make a watertight locker door.
steps are as follows, first make a template,to get an accurate size piece of ply wood.

next measure and mark the door you want to cut out,i used 12mm,and 6mm for the backing .
with a very small drill bit drill 2 holes on the line, carefully with the drill join them up till you have a hole big enough for your jigsaw blade.

cut out and sand, door and the cut out.

mark backing plate, mark the border, cut out, sand then glue.

pre drill hinges,and latch.

door and cut out trimmed and fitted ready to be painted on the boat.

Re: MacWester 26 and the 'hina-ous' Crew

Great looking project! Looking forward to rebuilding our "new" 1967 Grampian Classic 31. You've inspired me to start a thread for our progress on the boat as we make it! Thanks for the post on my thread that lead me to this!!!
