"Should have saved the ship & sunk the pirates"

"Should have blown them out of the water including the crew...Duh!"

"Sink em all with no trace. No messing about with courts, no letting them go to do it again, no prisoners to feed and give humanity to."

"The only answer is to kill ALL the available "bad guys" in any given situation."

What a blood-thirsty lot you are.

I for one am glad that most countries have due process as a cornerstone of their legal system and so would not take such action. I'm also glad that an ever increasing number of nations consider the death penalty as barbaric.

I doubt very much that the pirates would, could register a "hijacked?" ship

Red Herring. The point is why sink the the "mother ship" if it was not registered to "the pirates"? If some rep. goes to court and tries to claim the ship, then you can investigate.

Bewitched, I opened this thread to provide information to our cruising fraternity. Merely to provide the facts of the Danish warship L16 disposing of a vehicle used frequently in the commission of capital crimes. That process has been effected. At this time we have over 200 people being held hostage in appalling conditions by pirates from a state without law or justice. The treatment of sailors and cruisers by these pirates in those conditions must also be regarded as barbaric.

Laidback, I agree with you 100% that what the pirates are doing must be considered as barbaric.

I was just a little surprised how quickly we came down to their level.

We want to smash these awful people because they devastate our sense of humanity and threaten our freedom. There's no winning but maybe we can keep some perspective and not be dragged down to their level.

This is a not so gentle reminder. Cruisers Forum does not do politics nor do we do religion.

Thank you for your understanding.

Aside from the applying wisdom a couple thousand years out of date have you considered that Jesus might have been suggesting that ALL who take the sword shall perish with the sword not just the side you are on?

The solution to the pirate problem is not to kill the pirates. There will just be more pirates. The solution is to fix Somalia.

Good luck with that one, though.

On a lighter note, I like boats.
