First off, our Presidents name is Barack OBAMA. Second, how does something that Georgia idiots propose become President Obama's tax? Politics don't fly here...

Concur. Put the blame where the blame is due. The President doesn't control everything (in fact, he actually controls very little in our system). Too many people put too much faith, hope, and trust in the one person in that one office and ignore how the rest of the system is SUPPOSED to function. The sooner we get out of the mindset that imbues the president with godlike power and authority, the better.

There ain't no cheese down that hole boys so there's no payoff in going there.

Leave it be said that goverment at all levels--city, county, state and federal--is accustomed to wildly over-spending and all of them are now on the hunt for more income as the tax base erodes. "Rich Yachties" would make an easy target as, relatively speaking, they are few in numbers but perceived as well to do and therefor exploitable without too much electoral risk to the political class.

Okay so what the hell are talking about here aside from over-generalized meanderings about our government. What exactly is a weekend sailor? Why would something discussed in Georgia's State House have anything to do with Obama or anyone other than Georgia boaters for that matter. Need Input.

Dude.

Civics 101.

The President CANNOT "take away" anything that has to do with government appropriations. Nor can he "give" anything. All government spending is controlled by the Congress. More specifically, all spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives. So if you wish to blame someone for stopping cost of living raises, blame congress first. Granted, the Pres signed the bill, but I'll wager that provision was one of many in the bill, and probably not important enough to veto (of course, vetoing a bill generated by your own party and supported pretty much unanimously by it probably wouldn't fly well as President....unless the President is an actual LEADER. But that's not the point). Point is, there's lots of douchebaggery to go around. The DC cesspool slimes more people than just the President.

Try reading the Constitution. It's very simple to understand, afterall.

Wow, with spelling/grammar nazis, regional slurs, cheap shots at your pick of boat, constitutional scholars and things that don't fly but then take off like a Pterodactyl with it's arse on fire. It's a wonder lurkers and the curious post.

Since this thread is not really about cruising and boats, it is just an attempt to be political I am going close this one. Politics DON'T fly here.

Addendum:

This nonsensical thread was allowed to remain open (if only briefly) to illustrate why politics doesn't fly here! It has more than adequately served its purpose.

It has also had the unintended consequence of exposing the, apparently, poor state of Civics education in the US - unless, I suppose, one is gifted enough to receive an appointment to one of the military academies.
