One Girls Ocean Challenge

One of our club (Ashbridge's Bay Yacht Club, Toronto) members is entering the 2011 Mini Transat, France to Brazil in a 21 foot boat, singlehanded. Check out Diane's progress here:
One Girls Ocean Challenge

She's entering the Bermuda Ocean Race first on June 10th and the coming back solo as her qualifier for the Mini Transat. Let's all wish her luck!!

Long way in a small boat

It seems like a long distance to go in a boat called a Mini. A bit like driving across country with 4 kids in a Mini Morris except that the small kids are big waves. I wish her a bon voyage!

p.s. Boatman - I haven't figured out what tribe you belong to but I assure you Canada is truly multicultural and you're welcome to cheer for one of ours as if she was one of your own anytime.

Hummingway... I'm a nearly extinct species mate... OK the rest of ya..
Stop cheering... lmao.
If I was gonna cheer for the girl.. I reckon I'm already qualified...
My Mom, Sis and brood live in Calgary.. as does my Mom's brother who moved there in the 60's.. so there's a fairly strong family representation.
As for me.. I've been travelling the world since conception so I don't really have a tribe.. never been into the clan/club scene either..
So I guess I'm a tribe of 1...

At 37 years old, she's hardly a "girl".

Long gone are the days when you had to act your age and death was expected on any day after 50.
