SF Bay Area / KaBoom !

Tommorrow night, Saturday the 22nd of May the KFOG KaBoom fireworks show will be staged at candlestick point, south of the stadium.

We are planning on anchoring out to enjoy the show. Look for the little blue Cal flush deck and say hi if you are in the area!

Daiquiris will be served to all comers!

I'd love to be there but i'd have to jury rig a boat using a tractor innertube an old mop handle and my bedsheet.....launch it in grandriver...hit the mississippi thru the gulf and panama then up the coast....my daiquiri might be melted by the time i get there...lol

Sounds fun though....

Shoot! Sausalito YC is having a cruise-out to St. Francis YC, and I've already made berthing and dinner reservations. Let's do this next time for sure; I'm dying to drink your daiquiris!

Does StFYC know you are coming for dinner? They don't have reciprocal privileges with other yacht clubs. Just try pulling in to Tinsley Island.

The real fireworks may be at the StFYC guest dock tomorrow night.

Hah...just kidding of course...have a great time.

Frozen daiquiris? Home made, with organic key limes, raw honey and filtered water ice cubes? What brand of rum?

Never mind. I just realized I can't get there in time from Florida. I'll have to take a rain check.

From today's edition of 'Lectronic Latitude, comes an article with additional information on the event:

* * *

"KaBoom Moves to Candlestick Park

"May 21, 2010 – San Francisco Bay

For the first time in 16 years, the KaBoom will not be held at Piers 30/32.
© 2010 KFOG KaBoom

"Tomorrow night the Bay will fill with hundreds of boats jockeying for the best viewing spot for the KaBoom, an annual fireworks display hosted by radio station KFOG 104.5 FM."

Daiquiris have lemon, simple syrup, Dark Rum (often Bacardi or Meyers for mixed drinks) ice cubes, and usually strawberries. Occasionally mango.

Time honoured family recipe. Folks used to come to our bar JUST to have the Daiquiris!

Ewww...Candlestick Point?

No more having the city and the bridges as the backdrop? Be prepared for possible massive winds howling through the San Bruno gap and a fetch that will have your boat pounding in the chop. The downtown area usually blocked the wind pretty well.

Better have some cup holders for those daiquiris.

If you anchor be careful because the current is going to shift from a flood to an ebb around 2230. What this means is that all those boats at anchor are going to shift with the accompanying carnage as drunken boaters drag anchor at night....half still stuck to the bottom and the other half technically underway.

This happens every year during Fleet Week when the slack occurs during the air show.

If you are going by car you may want to be packing some pepper spray in that neighborhood.

They don't call it Windlestick fer nuttin...

Heh... It was big winds and chop and COLD! We had a blast but the boat never left the marina lol... At one point we had 5 adults in the cabin around the table, and three teen girls and a BIG lab in the vberth... at least staying warm wasn't a problem! After we all ate dinner we packed it up and drove up to Sierra point and parked on the north side of the point facing Candlestick and watched the show from there. It was beautiful!

And those Daiquiris? They morphed into Hot Apple Toddys
; -)
