I believe the new anti-anchoring laws will go into effect on December 28. The gist of it is that you can't anchor for more than 30 days without upping anchor and moving for a day and then you can restart your anchoring clock, but read the fine print as there are various details to be aware of. The problem is that most of the good anchoring space has been covered with the mooring fields, so in any case nobody will want to stay long at anchor. Here is the city's press release on the topic which paints a rosy picture of the whole situation. And, here's a good resource on where you can still anchor in St. Augustine.

Personally, I'm bypassing the place--if they don't want me there I will spend my money elsewhere.
