Re: Tropical weather starting to arrive

It's going to be a messy start to the weekend for a lot of boaters.

Hardly had any wind in N. Bradenton, but SOUTH of me, in Venice, they had a lot of wind.

In Gulfport, just across the mouth of Tampa Bay from me, they had a small tornado that did a bit of damage in the downtown areaa, bringing down some big trees which in turn damaged buildings.

In Gulfport, the opinion was that Andrea was worse than Debbie, and I guess it was -- there -- since Debbie didn't pull down any trees. But she created flooding and storm tides for three days.

I was at work until 10 PM and then I crashed and I haven't heard what happened when she came ashore at the Big Bend area. She was supposed to have top winds of 60 mph, but those peak winds were some distance from the storm's (huge) eye. Weird storm.

You guys who live in the tropics, stop complaining!; this is your typical weather. If you're hit with a snow blizzard during the summer months, then you'll have a valid reason to complain!

Re: Tropical weather starting to arrive

Was going to launch today in the northeast. Decided to leave the boat on land until the storm passed. Heavy rain coming down. So far only calling for winds gusting to 25 knots. But, two to four inches of rain will make for a nice washdown of the deck. Plus nothing like napping on a damp miserable day.

Re: Tropical weather starting to arrive

Not much wind here in upstate NY but plenty of rain, and I can tell that it isn't from Andrea and the tropics yet--temperature is in the 50s. Flood warnings are up for points south of us.

NEXT FEATURE OF INTEREST IS A TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ALONG 41.5W.
THIS WAVE IS ALSO ACCOMPANIED BY A WEAK SFC LOW PRES AND HAS
PLENTY OF CONVECTION AT THE H7 WAVE TROUGH AND ALSO ACCOMPANIED
BY SIG AMOUNTS OF MID LEVEL MOISTURE. IF WE WERE IN AUG I WOULD BE
EXCITED ABOUT POTENTIAL FOR DEVELOPMENT WITH THIS WAVE BUT IT IS
JUNE AND THE WAVE IS FORECAT TO WEAKEN AS IT MOVES TO THE
NORTHWEST AS IT MOVES INTO HIGHER SHEAR ENVIRONMENT. EXPECT THIS WAVE
WILL BRING STRONG CONVECTION TO OUR AREA SUN AS IT INTERACTS
FAVORABLY ON EAST SIDE OF TUTT FCST TO BE LOCATED OVR HISPANIOLA.
MID-UPPER LEVEL RIDGE THEN BUILDS OVR THE AREA EARLY NEXT WEEK.
obtained from a good storm tracking site...storm 2k.
