The sad thing is that it is totally believable in our bankrupt country that continues to penalize the MAKERS to support the growing population of TAKERS that are destroying our country. April Fools? Hardly.

its a fiat currency, dont worry , just print more, plenty where that came from

spending 5 Trillion on overseas adventures doesnt help of course, but hey it keeps the Southern states employed!!!( over this side we call that state sponsored development, like say Airbus!)

Indeed.

All too believable. In this day and age when for example in Cyprus -- whose only industry with a future is banking and financial services! -- confiscates the accounts of foreign clients. Invading foreign countries and torturing prisoners? Sure! Boarding and harassing yachts who sail to Cuba? More fun! A 5% tax on American yachts cruising abroad? All of a piece . . .

Once again, this looms its ugly head in my area. Will Va. Beach boaters ship out over tax proposal? | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com

One city raises taxes, boats all move to adjoining city.

I think you made a typo there... It should be "for you Canadians when visiting"

They are just catching up with other jurisdictions... Before we left California, we were paying a 1% "Unsecured Property Tax" on the value of the vessel. With other assessments attached to the bill, like 9-1-1, libraries, etc.... It came out to be around 1.1% tax per year.

Failure to pay, meant a lean againts your vessel from the local County Tax Assessor.

Yet another reason I left California for good!
