Something similar happened to a friends boat in Key West. After arriving and sleeping and resting through a couple of tide cycles, they went ashore and while gone, some lowlife KW boat bum tripped the anchor moved the boat to his and then wanted $2000 for saving the boat. I can't remember the details but there were clear indications the guy was scamming them. They refused to pay, he asked for $200, and they gave him nothing.
