Re: Bad day or dream sunk?

wow- ye got great stories-- as you learn they will get less exciting--or more so---- sounds like you are having fun on the sea--- i am glad you got back in a timely manner-sounds also as if you are learning water/current/tide and air movement lessons nicely, but traumatically--- your grandkids will laugh with you on htese-- right now they are scary lessons with good endings. what dont kill ye makes ye smarter/stronger. smooth sailing.. next sail will be more fun...hang on tight!!!

I do find it useful at the start of a venture to sail a short distance to a stopover exposed to the swell, overnight to get my ears and boat sorted and leave early the next day prepared and usually out of the choppy stuff which is commonly found around entrances to yachting centers.

Re: Bad day or dream sunk?

When the winds blowing hard I much prefer the Gulf to CC bay.

Because of the lack of depth the waves tend to be square and very closely spaced.

Have you tried motor sailing in those conditions?

As for seasickness, good luck. I couldn't imagine being seasick in those conditions..

My wife tells me it's not pleasant.
