Leather, if thick, remains fresh, tidy, soft even when used outdoor, though many 'experts' believe otherwise (wrong!)

+ especially if it gets a good dose of lanolin now and then - I bought a $30 piece of hide a few years ago, its provided outer covers on main and mizzen crosstrees, handgrip covers on the top of the boarding ladder and most recently non-slip edge strips on the cabin steps. The stuff on the boarding ladder is my favourite - its almost the first thing i touch every time i come back to the boat, never fails to please me.

First use of my leather was on the ladder handgrips....so lovely
