I get all the criticism about fb and such but I believe some of it is based on lack of tech savvy. I don't get much, if any, fb related spam as my account settings prevent most of their ads. And my browser blockers do the rest.

But when I visit this forum it shows me items which I googled earlier in the day. Just sayin...

PS Of course I already switched to DDG as my default search browser and "googling" is just a figure of speech.

So you're saying even using an anonymous search engine Cruisers Forum tracks your searches and places related ads. Is that right?

I don't think it's the forum per se but the fact that its search function is linked to google search. That's the connection.

Are you doing the searches from within Cruisers Forum or are the ads which come up in Cruisers Forum related to searches you've done with DDG?

I've found that CF puts a third-party google cookie (or tries to, I block it) on your computer, and also has a tracker, s.skimresources.com, which I also block.
