Yeah we are not leaving the dog. Our plans have developed over the past 4 months. At least for year 1, the dog is coming.

Re: Going to Sea and Scared!

My dogs and cats cruised with us and were awesome crewmates. The cats are gone now, one of them at twenty years old, and my old Lab passed away January 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. we intend to cruise a little more in this life, and I hope I have another dog who loves me enough to always stand my watches with me. Just me I guess, or rather us. We had 3 cruising couples acquire dogs after interacting with ours. Have no idea why picture keeps inverting, but you can stand on your head to see the handsomest Lab that ever lived, on a hot day in San Jose del Cabo awaiting the terrible weather window we got to bash back a little way into hurricane season.

Re: Going to Sea and Scared!

Happy looking family. Sorry to hear that your lab passed. Darn good dogs.

What places did you travel to with your furry friends? Did you ever have any issues?

Our first leg will be a Caribbean / South American loop that starts from South Florida. The dog should be fine for that run.

There are Big ambitions of sailing the South Pacific but not until year 2. Not sure our dog “ Skipper” will be out for that section. But we have time to still change our minds/plans.

We have enough funds to run a 2 year adventure but have currently decided to focus on one year at a time. Leaving ourselves an escape hatch.

We do not have our boat yet but are very much active in our search and have spent several weekends visiting vessels.

South Pacific is not dog-friendly. Worst of all is New Zealand (Australia also I believe) - almost a no-go area for dogs (unless you want to place pooch in quarantine for however many months).
