My recommendation to anyone wanting to cruise is...never lose site of the dream and never bite off more than you can chew. I just witnessed a guy in his 60's retired with a newer Valiant, give up.
You do not need fancy electronics or a boat too large for you. Do it a step at a time and never, never give up no matter what. When the chips are down, well meaning friends will tell you to stop. They mean well and once your head tells you it's a foolish dream, you will be scurrying to find the positive. Remember...it's in your heart. May all your dreams be realized. For me this thread has been completed. Now all I have are horizons...Celestialsailor

You exemplify the simple fact that single minded persistence is the key that opens all doors. Well done for sure!!

Whaaat? You've gone to MEXICO? Don't ya know that it is full of banditos and druggies, that the water can't be drunk by gringos, violence at every hand???

Sheesh, and ya thought a heart attack was bad?

Hee,hee...

Good one, mate... enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

Cheers,

Jim

Ya...I guess we're courting trouble. Breakfast almost killed me. Put me in a coma for 2 hours...

Ahhh ... Living the dream ... Ain't it grand!?!

Congrats on getting to Mexico!

P.S. I don't really think you need to worry about everything Jim said -- he's just an alarmist after all

Thanks for the heads up...Just looked on NOAA hurricane site...Oh boy! If it's anything like "Raymond", it might linger. I'm thinking Ensenada might be a good place to fill up on fish tacos, breaking my veggie diet...

Thanx Jedi. At the speed my poor little vessel bobs along and the cheap prices here, it may be a few years but I will drop by.

Re: Never Give Up!

DUDE! Glad you got out! I'll see you in Punta Mita or La Cruz pretty soon.
I need to write my own story too, but it took us 13 years, a tracheostomy, 3 leg surgeries and a neurosurgery and a wheelchair for each my wife and my son, and 10 weeks of inpatient PT, plus all the boat stuff to get ready to cruise after we bought our first cruising boat.
Keep plugging folks!

Steve...It was no chance that we met in Carls yard with our boats. You and your family have been a real inspiration for me. Under the category of making it happen and fighting for it every inch of the way, you are the poster child. See you soon.
