Re: This Is Tough to Admit, but About Two Years Ago . . .

You know those folks who don't wear socks in their sperries? they don't stay on their boats for long periods of time, I think. Wearing the shoes daily without stocks results in exceptionally stinky shoes, the kind not allowed below on my tiny boat.

Besides, the insides stick to my feet when I take 'em off.

You guys are talking about wearing shoes while on your boat? Tell me this isn't so!

By the way...what are "socks"?

No man, I was going dancing with girls. I used to dance back in the 80's.

I can't believe you sail... a sock is used to douse a spinnaker by lazy people...

seesh....

if you have two socks that means you have two spinnakers....

Now if you are a power boater, a spinnaker is the thing dragging the boat downwind... Looks like a curtain gone mad...

Re: This Is Tough to Admit, but About Two Years Ago . . .

I wore socks with my Topsiders yesterday! But... I'm in the Pac NW! Nothing like a well broken in pair of Topsiders, just slip them on and go. Dont know why they call them boat shoes though, slippery as any shoe on deck! Best boat shoes I ever had were a pair of raquetball shoes....

Yeah, what the heck is it with Sperry's so-called "Topsiders?" Ditto here. They are without a doubt the slipperiest shoes on the boat. I have some old Vibram-soled Bass slip-on loafers that work best and have a hell of a lot more support than Topsiders which have 0 support/cushioning.
