What time of year will you be making the crossing? I regularly see large sportfish towing their center console to Grand Bahama, Abaco and Bimini. No problem in summer months when gulf stream is calm. Appears that you could pull motor, replace drain plug with one way check valve drain plug, install tow eye backing plate and tow her behind you. Just cant run on a plane unless it is really calm. Or just buy a zodiac rated for 20hp!

Hi SuW. That's a possibility, but I think I would just get a shorter dingy than going through all that.

Most cruising boats keep the outboard on the main boat when at sea. Shorter dinghy or not.

Yes, it's a bit of a pain, but it stops it from being lost by theft or accident.
