Re: Carver Mariner 36 vs Cruisers 3750/375 aft cabin

The Carver has a solid glass hull. The Cruisers has a balsa cored hull. If you decide on the cruisers make sure it is out of the water for at least 24hrs before survey so the surveyor's moisture meter has a better chance of finding issues.

Take a look at Marine Survey 101 it will help show you how to inspect a boat.

Well, if I am it's because everyone on this board has been so generous with tips and suggestions. A big thank you to everyone.

We're touring the Carver 360 Sport Sedan this Saturday morning. Excited!

Looks like that 360 Sport Sedan would be similar to Silverton's 38 Sport Bridge model. Probably Sea Ray has something similar in that size, and I think Meridian does too. Probably some other makers, as well.

You might have a look at similar models from everyone, compare and contrast...

Another useful comparison might be to go on board various flybridge sportfish (aka "convertible") models just to appreciate the differences. There are pros/cons for convertibles versus sport bridge/sport sedan/sedan bridge models, but one thing you might notice from the helm is that sightlines are usually very different. For example, sportfish/convertibles tend to locate the helm aft and the bridge isn't extended.... so visibility aft is usually much better (without detracting from forward visibility) than on the models with an extended bridge and helm forward.

with no disrespect for you I think that particular Carver model is the world's ugliest boat. There was one for sale at the marina here and it took forever to sell. But of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Opinion noted, motion. We happen to think it's pretty. Guess we're the beholders in this case.
