Dyer 29: the good/bad?

I have been looking for a midsize powerboat for sometime that would allow me to occasionally sleep on her on short trips. I like classic lines. I am not afraid of wood, or of projects. Recently, I started looking at the Dyer 29 soft tops. Dyer has a good reputation… But I have never heard much from owners or former owners about their boats. Can anybody offer some support to a decision on moving into one of these?

Ask in the Trawler Forum, sister forum to this one. You will hit a wider (power) audience for your question. I own a 28 foot Sedan Cruiser (1969) wood with wood/fiberglass hull (original build). If you are into classic lines check out Chris Crafts they may be out there. And oh.... my boat is a Mariner built in Vancouver so you wouldn't have heard of it.

Wooden boats, though more labour intensive, have a warmer feel about them, not the plastic fantastics that are out there now. If you go in eyes wide open, wallet wide open, you can discover a wonderful world of boating that is by gone now.
