Enclosures

I recently bought a 1986 Mainship 36 Dual Cabin. It has enclosures on both the Flybridge and the Sun Deck.
Question: Do you completely remove the enclosures during the summer months, except of course, the Bimini and Hard tops needed for shade? Or do you just roll up the plastic windows and get some kind of screening?

I'am going to clean & roll mine up this week. Then I'll take the Bimini down clean and spray 303 protectant on it to water proof. This is on the bridge I removed the cockpit enclosure in April. I've been rolling up the windows while on the bridge & have thought about leaving the enclosure up but it is much more comfortable with it removed. I have screens on the roll-ups for the cockpit but have not found them to be all that great.

Re: Enclosures

Tony - I took our enclosure panels down last weekend for the summer. I will keep them onboard stowed, just incase we find ourselves on a weekend cruise and rain shows up. We prefer to pilot from the flybridge, so the panels are stowed up there for easy access.

Our sundeck is not enclosed. We prefer it open and airy.

That is a GREAT idea! Although I'm not concerned about rolling mine. I have them rolled in fabric so the glass doesn't scratch itself. And stowed under the helmstation. Easy access if a downpour comes upon us.

I made our flybridge enclosure and I actually look forward to changing a few details next time. But, I LOVE the stowage under the bed idea.

I have Pfifer Tex screening and I really love it. I don't even take it all down when I'm sailing. The lighter weight cuts 50% of the UV rays and I leave it up across the back of the boat. I can see out extremely well and it really shelters the person at the helm.
