Newbie here

Hello folks,
Just in the middle of buying a 28' boat with a 350 Mercruiser. I'll be asking a few questions and perusing some of the different forums to expand my knowledge base.

Hello Dewey,

Since you are a powerboater you may find our companion forum more useful. The vast majority of people here are rag-wavers :-)

Re: Newbie here

New to the Forum, go easy. I have a 33' Bayliner in a slip in Reedsville VA and I am looking to bring it down to New Bern NC possibly in March or April. This will be my first time doing anything like this and looking for and advice, charts, moorings marinas etc that will break the trip up into maybe three overnighters.

Re: Newbie here

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Check out the Waterway Guide, Salty Sams, ActiveCaptain for both general info and for specific like marinas or anchoranges.

It's not a difficult trip, especially if you have at least one crew. You might encounter some northbound traffic at about that time.

You could probably do it in four days/three overnights... but you might find it less tiring and more enjoyable to extend it a few days and smell some coffee along the way.

Portsmouth (and/or Hampton and/or Norfolk), Coinjock, Alligator River Marina, Belhaven, and Oriental would be some of the popular stops along the way.
